About me....
In 2009, after university, I went to Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa on a conservation programme for a month. I was on the programme with other people so it wasn't exactly solo. It is for that reason I consider my love of solo travel to have been born in 2010, when I took a hiatus from my career at the time and went solo backpacking. During that trip, I visited Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Australia and Fiji. The first part of my trip was a 28 day tour of Indochina, where I made some lifelong friends. After that, I went totally solo and it was then that I truly experienced the empowerment of solo travel for the first time.
People told me when I returned 'home' I wouldn't be able to settle, but nothing prepared me for the intensity of that need to keep travelling. I had well and truly caught the travel bug (yes, it's real). I continued to travel whenever I had the opportunity, but it wasn't long before I realised I had to create a life that allowed me to travel on my own terms. It may sound cliche, but I came to learn the '9-5' life was just not for me.
I've always been focused and hard-working for as long as I can remember. I channelled my energy into creating my own business; so I can work on my own terms and travel full-time. I'm not only documenting my travels, but I'm here to show you this 'dream' of yours doesn't have to remain one. You can absolutely make it your reality. I'm passionate about helping others create a life that gives you freedom and adventure. If I can inspire just one of you to start the solo travel life, I'll have done my job.
So get out there; start exploring. I promise you'll never look back...
Hey! I'm Sophie, a millennial who is addicted to travel and adventure. I was lucky enough to have travelled frequently when I was growing up; little did I know then that I would turn into a true wanderluster.
